MISSION CAPSULES: Our gifts to Presbyterians Sharing ... help to create ministries in new regions and in new ways. Burnaby Taiwanese Presbyterian Church in Burnaby, B.C. was officially constituted in 2008. It is the only Taiwanese Church in Burnaby and the north-east Greater Vancouver area. Sermons are in Taiwanese, and a home-made Taiwanese lunch is served after each service. The congregation reaches out through various programs, including choir, pastoral visits, Sunday school, bible studies and gatherings for different age groups. The church shares a building with Brentwood Presbyterian Church and a Montessori kindergarten, so most daytime gatherings are held in family homes and a rented space at a local United Church. Please pray for Burnaby Taiwanese Church as it continues to reach out to the growing Taiwanese community in the Burnaby area.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 13th, 2009 - 4:00 PM - Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol - A dramatic reading with musical interludes featuring readings by Colm Feore, Donna Feore, Peter Oundjian, Tom Allen and Michael Brett. MONDAY, DECEMBER 14th, 2009 - Boarding Homes Ministry Christmas Party. Every year we support the Boarding Homes Ministry by putting on a Christmas party for the men. BPC buys dinner, and the congregation supports by putting together gift baskets for the men in the home. The gifts you supply are much appreciated; for some of the men, these will be the only gifts they receive. You can help by committing to giving 10 similar items for the men, or by going together with someone else to give 10 items. Typical items might be: Personal Christmas Decoration; socks, mitts/gloves, hats, scarves, mug, picture frame, sweaters, Tim Hortons cards. If you prefer to give cash, the team will purchase items for you. Contact Mary Rae Shantz at mrs_504@hotmail.com
NOTE: This email was sent to our church office in October, however, John still has not found an apartment. "My name is Laurie Matheson, and my husband and I are elders at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Fergus. Our 25 year old son, John, is starting at Centennial College in January 2010 for 12 months. He is looking for a basement apartment and we are asking if anyone in your congregation could help. Thank you" 1-519-843-7941 or jlmatheson@sympatico.ca
