THURSDAY, MARCH 4th, 2010 - Eat some chocolate - dark - it's good for you! LENT INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL continues - 7:00 pm - Sunshine Cleaning, starring Amy Adams, Emily Blunt and Alan Arkin. Popcorn and drinks provided. FRIDAY, MARCH 5th, 2010 - 2:00 pm - World Day of Prayer service at Queen Street East, Presbyterian Church ( at Carlaw ). Program written by the women of Cameroon. All welcome. SATURDAY, MARCH 6th, 2010 - 4:30 pm - Jazz Vespers Series at Beach United Church, 140 Wineva Avenue. Featuring Joe Sealy and Paul Novotyny. Free-will offering. The Shakespeare Readers read "The Merchant of Venice", 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm at the Beaches Library. SUNDAY, MARCH 7th, 2010 - Join us for worship at 10:30 am, Third Sunday of Lent. Worship leader Rev. Matt McKay. Music at Glenview series - 7:00 pm - featuring the Glenview Concert Choir and Toronto Community Orchestra, with our own, Susan Kopulos and Catherine Inglis. An evening of classical music. Refreshments following. A free-will offering will be taken. Glenview Presbyterian is south of Lawrence on the west side of Yonge. MISSION CAPSULES: Our gifts to Presbyterians Sharing ... help International Ministries equip leaders to share the gospel in Ghana and Malawi. Three Presbyterian Churches of Ghana lay training centres - Ramsayer, Nsaba, and Tamale - each receive annual grants of $5000.00. Zomba Theological College in Malawi, an ecumenical seminary that trains ministers for the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian, received $10,000.00 each year. Theological Education by Extension (TEEM) in Malawi, which provides theological education for lay people and clergy in remote areas, receives $3,000.00 yearly. Our gifts are helping ministers and lay leaders to share the good news in Ghana and Malawi. Let us pray for teachers and students in theological schools around the world. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 10th, 2010 - St. Andrew's King Street, Lenten Meditation Services continue. This week The Rev. Dr. Peter Holmes, of Yorkminster Park Baptist Church leads - "The Trial before the Religious Community". 12:00 noon: Organ selections; 12:15 Meditation; 12:45 Lunch. FRIDAY, MARCH 19th, 2010 - THE LOST PILGRIMS at Westminister Presbyterian Church, 154 Floyd Avenue, west of Pape and north of Danforth. Reception at 7:00 pm - concert at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $12:00 in advance, $15:00 at the door. $10.00 for children. This is a fund raising concert for Alex Bisset's church and all proceeds will go towards the replacement of the roof on the church building.
